Veterans accuse group of 'hijacking' remembrance symbol with a 'Palestine Poppy' that is sold for £1.78 on eBay

More than 1,400 of the badges have already been bought ahead of Remembrance Day. Lt Sgt Stuart Crawford branded them 'not at all appropriate' and said the design rides 'on the coat-tails' of the red poppy. A video on the group's website features the slogan 'from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free'. The sellers insist it is not-for-profit, with part of the price going to charities in Palestine.

Crawford said the red poppy is 'avowedly apolitical', while this one is 'designed to divide'.

Its creators say it commemorates 'ongoing genocide' and shows solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The 3cm metal badge copies the poppy's layout in Palestinian flag colours.
