Vice President JD Vance faces backlash for answering a young Republican's housing plea with a joke about Jon Husted's backside

Vice President JD Vance was at a Fox News town hall in Fort Worth, Texas, when Kate White — a Texas Christian University student and Turning Point USA chapter vice president — posed a heartfelt question about housing affordability, only for Vance to respond with a crude joke at Senator Jon Husted's expense involving his backside. The clip spread rapidly on X, accumulating more than 6.9 million views. When Vance eventually turned to White's actual question, he acknowledged that his own party had failed to deliver on affordability.
White asked how young Americans are supposed to marry and start families when the typical US home has risen beyond $415,000.
Vance blamed the surge in housing costs on undocumented immigrants and Wall Street investors buying up properties, as well as mortgage rates above 7 per cent.
Former Trump White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews wrote: 'I genuinely cannot believe this is a real exchange between a voter and the Vice President of the United States.'
