Von Scales died around 2am on Thursday in Atlanta, having previously been warned by his doctor that dangerously high potassium levels could kill him without treatment. The Braxton family confirmed his death in a statement asking for privacy, while an official cause of death has not yet been released. Scales, a former college basketball player turned businessman, married Trina Braxton in St. Louis in December 2019.
His heart struggles played out on screen in 'The Braxtons', where he left sister Towanda's wedding early to be hospitalised after ignoring doctor's orders.
Scales had stood by Trina through the 2018 death of her ex-husband Gabe Solis, with Trina saying: 'He really helped me through it; he stood right by me.'
On a 2023 podcast, Trina called their marriage unlike any she'd had before: 'I've never had that before in my life — it's an amazing feeling.'
