Wanted Leicester pub toilet rapist caught after running red light

Pendeli Dervishi, 24, of no fixed abode, followed a heavily intoxicated 17-year-old into the men's toilets of the Soar Point pub in Leicester city centre, seized her by the wrist and compelled her to perform a sex act on him before another man walked in and heard her crying out "no" and "stop". Dervishi was arrested on the night of the attack but was bailed while officers built their case — then disappeared, leaving the victim enduring months of uncertainty. Leicester Crown Court sentenced him to seven years and six months on Thursday.
Dervishi, an Albanian national, was spotted running a red light on Woking Road in Guildford at around 4am on 16 April by a Surrey officer.
Detective Constable Jon Williams had already focused the search through telephone data and financial records that put Dervishi in the Guildford area.
The victim, described in court as 'clearly drunk', was required to give evidence at trial after Dervishi contested the rape charge throughout.
