Warrant in raid on US congresswoman Ilhan Omar's home is only partly executed and targets 'other individuals', DOJ tells court
Ilhan Omar, who is facing a Trump administration probe into her conduct, appeared alongside streamer Hasan Piker at a sold-out Minneapolis event eight days before the midterm elections.
The Department of Justice has informed a federal court that the search warrant used in the 12 October raid on Representative Ilhan Omar's Washington DC home has not yet been fully executed and covers "other individuals" beyond Omar herself. A redacted 47-page filing opposing news outlets' attempts to unseal the case records says prosecutors expect the warrant to be "fully executed in short order." Attorney General Todd Blanche signed off on the warrant and insisted its timing was not intended to affect the upcoming election.
Nearly 200 House Democrats, led by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, have written to Blanche and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin demanding the probe be halted before election day.
Former immigration judge Nathan Hansen warns Omar could face criminal charges AND separate civil denaturalization proceedings if fraud is proved.
