Warsaw airport is shut after a 'bomb threat' on a Heathrow flight, the SECOND London scare in 24 hours
181 people on board evacuated while bomb disposal teams inspected the aircraft and luggage.
A LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 carrying 181 people was diverted mid-flight to Warsaw-Modlin Airport after a bomb threat was reported at 9.54am local time, with the aircraft landing safely at 10.01am. Warsaw-Chopin Airport, the original destination, remains closed until further notice while bomb disposal experts inspect the plane and passengers' luggage.
The threat is the second on a London departure in 24 hours — a Wizz Air flight from Luton to Bulgaria was escorted by a Hungarian Gripen fighter jet to Budapest on Monday.
Warsaw-Modlin spokesman Adam Szabłowski confirmed the 181 people on board are being evacuated while authorities await bomb disposal teams.
Nothing suspicious was found on the diverted Wizz Air flight yesterday, but Hungarian police have launched additional security measures following that landing.
