'We'll be back in a few weeks': Chelsea keeper Emi Martinez sends message from hospital after surgery on broken jaw
Emiliano Martinez, 34, told fans on Instagram that 'the most important thing is that we won and with a clean sheet'. He had clashed heads with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Martinez needed oxygen and lengthy treatment before he was stretchered off. Mike Penders, 21, is expected to keep goal when Tottenham visit Stamford Bridge next Saturday.
Boos could be heard as Martinez was carried off, though most Everton fans applauded.
Commentator Daniel Mann called the booing 'quite extraordinary'.
Two-goal hero Pedro Neto dedicated the 2-0 win to his keeper: 'This win is for him.'
