A hammer-wielding masked gang threatened to kill a heavily pregnant woman's unborn baby unless her husband transferred hundreds of thousands of pounds in cryptocurrency during a 45-minute ordeal at their Solihull home in December last year. The victim, beaten throughout the raid, said one attacker suffocated his wife with a pillow on the sofa while a fourth gang member directed the attack live on a video call. Crimestoppers has posted a £10,000 reward, and the gang is still at large nine months on.
A fourth accomplice directed the raid via FaceTime, ordering: 'Show me what apps he's got' before demanding the transfer.
The gang also fled with several Rolex watches in what police believe was a planned, targeted attack, escaping in a black BMW X3.
West Midlands regional Crimestoppers manager Alan Edwards said 'what was done to them is hard to take in, and the effects are still being felt every single day.'
