'Whispering' Bob Harris, 80, has delivered what he called "fantastic news" in a video from his garden, saying his oncologist has told him his stage four prostate cancer is getting back under control after a worrying period in which he warned the disease had been "getting more of a hold". The veteran Radio 2 presenter, who stepped back from his shows 'Sounds of the 70s' and 'Radio 2 Country' earlier this year, said he could see "the pathway of my life ahead of me opening up again".
Harris had previously posted from a hospital bed to say he was starting intensive intravenous radiotherapy after his cancer spread to his upper spine.
He cited cyclist Chris Hoy — also living with stage four prostate cancer — calling the experience "a very emotional roller coaster" but insisting he remains "an extremely positive person".
Harris is still planning to appear on stage at his Stand By Me Concert with Robert Plant at the Royal Albert Hall on 2nd December, and has teased a further update next week.
