'We're not here for love': Massachusetts woman is accused of netting $6m from hundreds of sham 'green card' marriages
Jennifer Gonzalez, 43, of Fall River, allegedly charged migrants up to $40,000 each and arranged 18 to 20 fake weddings a year for more than a decade. US Attorney Leah Foley says she poured the proceeds into land in the Dominican Republic. Five women, including alleged 'secretary' Amara Pugh, were arrested on Wednesday. A sixth, Jalyn Hill, is already in state prison for a firearms offence.
Gonzalez allegedly called Massachusetts a 'sanctuary' state and a 'safe haven for immigration'.
Foley said: 'Ms. Gonzalez got rich off selling the American Dream.'
Couples were allegedly told to pose for selfies and open joint bank accounts.
