'We're out of time': Pilot screams mayday before a private jet nosedives near Florida's Mar-a-Lago, killing all nine aboard
The Learjet 60 plunged 34,000 feet in under a minute after the female pilot reported moderate turbulence and light ice, then her voice broke into screams as the jet hit 22,000 feet per minute descent at a 60-degree bank angle. The aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas bound for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas before nosediving into a mobile home community near Greenacres, Palm Beach County, just after 12:50pm local time. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told reporters the footage looked like 'a missile coming down', and no ground casualties have been confirmed.
Transport Secretary Sean Duffy called it 'a horrific tragedy', with the NTSB and FAA both sending teams to investigate the cause.
The crash left a crater in Military Trail, igniting a utility pole and scattering burning debris feet from passing cars and nearby homes.
'Holy f***, we're out of time' were the pilot's final words to air traffic control before tracking data cut off entirely.
