'We should not have done it': billionaire donor Peter Thiel breaks with Trump over Iran war as midterms loom
The PayPal and Palantir co-founder was recorded calling the war a string of 'mistakes' during a lecture he hosted in Nashville last week. Peter Thiel warned America may lack the 'hard power' and could 'lose the soft power war'. His remarks surfaced just two weeks before the November 3 elections. Republicans are struggling to hold their slim Senate majority.
Despite the attack on the war, Thiel reaffirmed his continued support for President Trump.
Thiel also used the lecture to blast neoconservatives and America's wars in the Middle East.
The US and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran on February 28, sending fuel prices soaring.
