Defence Secretary Wes Streeting described Iran's decision to label the RAF, Royal Navy and MI6 as terrorist organisations as "bare-faced cheek," pointing to Tehran's own record of state-sponsored terrorism and regional destabilisation. He made the remarks at a Berlin press conference after Iran's foreign ministry announced the designations on Sunday in direct retaliation for Britain outlawing support for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Iran warned the British government it "shall bear responsibility for their consequences" after making the designations.

Streeting cited the incident at RAF Fairford and Iran's strikes on neighbouring countries during the US-Iran conflict as evidence of Tehran's own record of aggression.

Streeting said the UK is maintaining diplomatic channels and working toward de-escalation, vowing to keep pointing Iran toward "the diplomatic alternative."
