Wes Streeting warns Britain has just 1,000 days to 'be ready' for war as families are told to stockpile food

Defence secretary Wes Streeting says Britain's adversaries could be strong enough to attack the UK by 2030. He points to their growing force strength and war economies, and warns of Russian 'state-sponsored terrorism'. Every household is being urged to keep up to nine litres of bottled water and three days' worth of food. Prime minister Andy Burnham told the BBC: 'It's not about panicking.'
The 'Be Ready' campaign also wants homes stocked with blankets, cash, torches and first-aid kits.
Families are reportedly told to keep a wind-up FM radio in case essential services collapse.
Streeting on Russia: 'To prevent the worst, we have to prepare for it.'
