West Yorkshire officer is convicted of sexual assault as ex-Merseyside cop is jailed 11 years for hotel rape

Jack Blagbrough, a serving West Yorkshire Police officer based in Kirklees, was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court of sexually assaulting a woman after a party in the Bradford area in August 2024. Sentencing is set for 15 December, and he will also face gross misconduct proceedings. The verdict came on the same day that former Merseyside Police officer Ryan Theaker, 30, was jailed for 11 years for the rape and sexual assault of a woman at a Liverpool hotel in 2023, in an attack lasting 82 minutes. In a third case, former South Wales Police officer Rikki Hall, 33, pleaded not guilty to rape and strangulation charges at Bristol Crown Court.

The victim in Theaker's case secretly recorded the 82-minute attack; the recording captures her saying 'get off me' more than 300 times.

Rikki Hall, who left South Wales Police during the IOPC investigation, is scheduled to stand trial in February 2028.
