Westminster City Council is to axe 520 jobs in its most brutal ever cuts and blames Labour's funding raid

Westminster City Council says it faces a £100m drop in government grant, from £219m to £119m, under Labour's Fair Funding Review. The council claims it would need a 200 per cent council tax rise to avoid spending cuts. Chief executive Stuart Love broke the news to staff at City Hall on Tuesday. Those affected are expected to leave between April and December 2027.
Paul Fisher, cabinet member for finance, says the cuts target managers, not 'front-line posts'.
Labour group leader Ellie Ormsby said 'behind every job at risk is a person'.
Enfield and Croydon are set for significant uplifts while Westminster loses out.
