Westminster council is to axe 520 jobs in its biggest-ever cuts after Labour's funding shake-up strips out £100m

The Conservative-run town hall will shed around 15% of its 3,720-strong workforce to save £29m, with a further £16m to come from leases and contracts. Chief executive Stuart Love broke the news to staff at City Hall on Tuesday. Finance chief Paul Fisher insists management, not front-line posts, will bear the brunt. Those affected are due to leave between April and December 2027.
The council blames Labour's Fair Funding Review for a predicted £160m black hole by 2029.
Ministers argue the borough's council tax has been 'historically very low' and should rise.
