Westminster house prices have crashed by a FIFTH as London property market collapses while the north booms

Westminster's average house price has plummeted 20.7% in a year — from £1,106,000 to £877,000 — the sharpest fall among 20 London boroughs recording drops, official ONS figures show. Meanwhile, Andy Burnham's Trafford saw values surge by £35,164, with Yorkshire and the Humber among the country's top performers.

Nationally, house prices rose 1.4% to an average of £273,000 — but London alone lost £18,758 per home on average.

Flats are the hardest-hit property type, with 88% of inner London flats failing to find a buyer within six months, according to Zoopla.

Rents rose almost everywhere prices fell, with Islington up 6.2% and Greenwich up 6.1%, as some landlords blame the Renters' Rights Act for pushing up bills.
