Wheelchair-using girl, 7, faces a long recovery after a teen gunman shot her in the face at an Oregon school

Saylor Graham, the youngest known survivor of the Silver Rail Elementary rampage in Bend, already lives with a rare genetic condition called CASK. She has had surgery and was stabilised in serious condition. A GoFundMe has raised more than $380,000 to cover her care in Portland. Both her parents are self-employed and cannot work while they stay at her bedside.

Griffin John II, 16, killed three students and a teacher at the school on Thursday.

Armed dad Kaylub Giamanco shot the gunman dead, then told his mother: 'Mom, I couldn't save them all.'

Bend had already honoured Saylor as a 'Sparrow', a title given to children facing serious medical challenges.
