Wheelchair-using pensioner, 72, is accused of killing woman, 86, in a 'knife attack' at a German care home

The 72-year-old resident allegedly stabbed one victim in the neck from his wheelchair in the canteen of St Vitus-Stift in Olfen, near Dortmund, on Friday evening. Two more residents, aged 81 and 83, were wounded, and one remains in a life-threatening condition. He then went back to his room and surrendered to police without resistance. He is due to appear before a judge today.

Two helicopters landed outside to airlift the injured women to University Hospital Münster.

The suspect is being held under police guard in a psychiatric hospital.
