Whelford residents say they are 'living in limbo' as RAF Fairford terror probe leaves seven bailed and no one charged

Glenda Daniels, who has lived in Whelford for 23 years, says the village has been left with an "overwhelming feeling of sadness" after the RAF Fairford terror incident on 27 September forced more than 80 households to evacuate. Residents were allowed home on Monday but say unease deepened further after the US pulled its B-1 bombers from the base on 4 October. Government representatives have declined to comment, and Daniels says the village is "unlikely" to get the reassurance it needs. "We just want honesty," she told the BBC.

All seven men arrested — British nationals and one dual Iranian-British national, all in their 20s — have been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of preparing acts of terror.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said the investigation is "progressing extremely well" and urged the public to trust police and give them time.

Trump confirmed the B-52 and B-1 bombers were withdrawn due to "some threats" to the base, leaving residents inside a security cordon still uncertain whether they can leave their homes.
