Danny Dyer sails giant poo sculpture down the Thames before knocking on No 10 with water nationalisation petition

Actor Danny Dyer delivered a petition carrying close to 350,000 signatures to Downing Street on Wednesday, demanding that the water industry be returned to public ownership. He arrived after floating a giant inflatable poo sculpture along the River Thames with Kevin McKenna, MP for Sittingbourne and Sheppey. Dyer runs a caravan park on the Isle of Sheppey with his daughter Dani Dyer for a Sky series and has previously called bathing water quality "a disgrace."
The petition, launched by campaigners SOS Whitstable, has passed the 100,000-signature threshold and is now eligible to be put forward as a subject for parliamentary debate.
Dyer took part in a sewage protest in Leysdown, Kent, in September, alongside singer Becky Hill and Surfers Against Sewage.
Andy Burnham has previously said he wants 'greater public control' of water and energy sectors, though the push for nationalisation has met resistance from lenders to Thames Water.
