'Why did I leave?': Dame Prue Leith admits she felt a 'pang' watching Nigella Lawson on Bake Off

Dame Prue Leith, 86, insists she is still glad she quit, saying she left so she could get 'another European holiday' with husband John Playfair. 'I'm running out of time,' she said, warning a day will come when she cannot travel. She still calls Bake Off 'the best job in television' and remains great friends with Paul Hollywood, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding. She called Nigella 'terrific' in the role.

Dame Mary Berry, 91, says Nigella has brought 'fresh life' and 'glamour' to the tent.

Berry warned Nigella must 'keep control' of Paul Hollywood and his ever-present handshake.

Prue made one final tent appearance in a Doctor Who-inspired skit introducing Nigella.
