'Why do we need her?': Australians launch a petition to remove Meghan Markle from her Junior MasterChef Australia role

An online petition demanding Meghan Markle be removed from Junior MasterChef Australia has gained traction, with critics questioning why producers chose the Duchess of Sussex over homegrown culinary talent for the 2027 series. Selby Witteveen, 77, branded Meghan a woman "trading on royalty, which she is no longer," while Rosa, 76, declared flatly: "We have so many Australians that could do that job." Meghan is set to co-host the kids' competition alongside MasterChef judge Poh Ling Yeow.
Poh said she is "still processing" the news but is "very, very excited to be working with Meghan."
Network 10 executives believe Meghan's worldwide recognition will breathe new life into the junior franchise and boost its appeal in international syndication markets.
Meghan said returning was "an easy yes," adding: "I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create is going to be a lot of fun."
