Meghan Markle is set to co-host the 2027 season of Junior MasterChef Australia alongside chef Poh Ling Yeow, but the announcement has triggered a backlash in Melbourne where a petition against her casting has gathered hundreds of signatures. Selby Witteveen, 77, told reporters: 'She just wants money — she is there only trading on royalty, which she is no longer.' Rosa, 76, demanded: 'We have so many Australians that could do that job.'

When Meghan visited Australia with Prince Harry in April 2026, she appeared on the adult MasterChef Australia series in a guest judging capacity.

Poh Ling Yeow, who will share hosting duties with Meghan, said she is 'still processing' the news but 'very, very excited to be working with Meghan.'

Meghan described accepting the role as 'an easy yes', adding: 'I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create is going to be a lot of fun.'
