Star Trek legend William Shatner, 95, has publicly attacked Aldi UK on X after Radio Essex presenter Chris Brooks shared an 'intimidating' letter the supermarket sent his son Samuel demanding repayment of a £97.64 overpayment. Shatner told Aldi's CEO to investigate his accounting department, pointing out the letter asked for money back by September 14 — a deadline that fell two weeks before the letter was even sent.
Brooks, a former Capital FM host, argued Aldi made the overpayment error 'not him', and said his son will pay up but the letter 'didn't need to be so awful'.
Shatner also noted Aldi likely spent more than £97 dispatching the letter, adding: 'I'm sure it more than £97! 🙄'
Aldi's social media team replied they were 'sorry to see this' and directed Samuel to the phone number on the letter — fans joked Chekov and Sulu should now wade into their own supermarket disputes.
