Madeleine Rachel Trask, found dead in a field beside Langar Airfield on 5 July, had worked as a parachute packer at the Nottinghamshire skydiving centre for three-and-a-half years.

Madeleine Rachel Trask, a parachute packer who had spent three and a half years at Skydive Langar, was found in a neighbouring field and pronounced dead at the scene on July 5. Assistant coroner Karen Boyle opened an inquest at Nottingham Council House on Thursday; a post-mortem had determined a provisional cause of death of a head injury. Police arrived at Langar Airfield at 12.13pm, and officers formally identified Ms Trask at 1.54pm. The inquest was adjourned, with no date yet set for its resumption.

Skydive Langar, the UK's busiest civilian skydiving centre with more than 50,000 jumps a year, described the July incident as one involving an 'experienced skydiver'.

Ms Trask was a former president of the University of Nottingham's Skydiving Club and had attended Berkhamsted School in Hertfordshire.

A spokesman for Skydive Langar declined to comment when approached about the inquest opening.
