WHO health workers support Nigeria's efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak after a woman who arrived from Uganda went undiagnosed at a private Abuja hospital for eight days.

Kenya's health ministry says the 65-year-old woman developed symptoms on 13 October while already quarantined as a direct contact of the index case — a man who became ill in DR Congo and died in Nairobi on 5 October. Seven others are now under treatment across two isolation facilities: three of his relatives, three health workers and a hospital cleaner. The ministry says there is 'no evidence of community spread'.

The death toll across Africa has surpassed 4,000 since Ebola was confirmed in DR Congo in May.

The Bundibugyo strain has no approved vaccine or treatment and is fatal in roughly half of all cases.

Officials are investigating whether Nigeria's patient and Kenya's case crossed paths at Entebbe airport.
