WHO health workers support Nigeria's efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak after a woman who arrived from Uganda went undiagnosed at a private Abuja hospital for eight days.

She started experiencing symptoms on 13 October while already in quarantine, and doctors at the infectious disease unit in Nairobi could not save her; Kenya's health ministry confirmed she died on Friday evening. Seven patients remain in isolation: three relatives of the first victim, three health workers and a hospital cleaner. Contacts who have shown no symptoms are expected to be released today.

The first victim, a 40-year-old man who had travelled from DR Congo, died in Nairobi on 5 October.

Officials identified 135 contacts, placing 118 under restriction, and eight tested positive.

Nigeria's health minister says its Ebola case is linked to the virus found in Kenya's first case.

From November 3, every traveller flying into the US must declare they have not been to DR Congo.
