Woman found alive in Mexico is NOT the Arizona woman who vanished two years ago, sheriff confirms

Shayna Feinman, 38, has been missing since March 2024, when she disappeared on her way to a friend's house near Seligman, Arizona. The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office has now used physical evidence to establish that the woman discovered in Tijuana's Encino neighbourhood was not Feinman but an impostor. Her boyfriend Cavett Richards had faced charges of murder and concealment of a body, which were dropped after no remains came to light. A $20,000 reward for information on Feinman's whereabouts remains active.

Feinman's sister Kara had already declined to identify the Tijuana woman as Shayna before the sheriff issued its official ruling.

The sheriff's office criticised news outlets for publishing the initial 'found alive' reports 'without official law enforcement confirmation'.

Kara Feinman urged the public to show 'kindness' after the false sighting reopened the family's wounds.
