Woman who hid Henry Nowak murder weapon is to walk FREE after serving just a third of her sentence
Henry Nowak, the Southampton University student whose killer's mother is expected to walk free under Labour's early release scheme having served less than half her three-year sentence.Kiran Kaur, the mother of Henry Nowak's killer, who faces deportation to India and a Court of Appeal challenge to her sentence on 5 November, weeks before her scheduled early release.
Kiran Kaur, 53, was jailed for three years for disposing of the eight-inch ceremonial dagger her son Vickrum Digwa had used to stab student Henry Nowak to death. Under Labour's early release scheme, she is due to walk free in December having served less than half her sentence. As an Indian national, she also faces possible deportation, with the Home Office stating it will "seek to deport foreign criminals at the first opportunity." In a separate development, Kaur is appealing her sentence at the Court of Appeal on 5 November — just weeks before her anticipated release.
Digwa, who falsely told police that Nowak had racially abused him, is serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 21 years.
Kaur's projected release date falls around the first anniversary of Henry Nowak's murder on 3 December 2025.
On the same day as Kaur's appeal, Digwa will challenge his sentence as excessive before the Court of Appeal — while the Attorney General contends it should be longer.
