World-first personalised cancer jab built from each patient's own tumour slashes the risk of death or melanoma relapse by 42%
Two years on, 82% of patients given the Moderna and MSD vaccine intismeran alongside Keytruda were alive and cancer-free, against 70% on Keytruda alone. The phase three trial covered 1,137 people whose high-risk melanoma had been surgically removed. Each jab is made in weeks using tumour DNA sequencing and AI. Prof Georgina Long is due to present the results in Madrid.
Intismeran uses the same mRNA technology as the Covid jabs.
Long: 'This has not been achieved before in the history of cancer drug development.'
Independent experts say longer studies must still prove it helps patients live longer.
