UN food agency cuts food aid for 700,000 Palestinians across Gaza and the West Bank and appeals for $450m to restore it

Carl Skau, acting head of the World Food Programme, has called Gaza "absolutely brutal", pointing to UN records showing roughly 50 attacks per day in the region last week. Gaza's recipient count fell this month from 1.6 million to 1.1 million, and West Bank numbers were cut in half to 200,000. Going forward, aid will be directed toward sick people, mothers, and children facing malnutrition.

Around 1.4 million Gazans, 67% of the population, still face crisis-level hunger.

Israel halted commercial food shipments last week before saying it would resume them.

Skau says settler attacks have turned the West Bank into 'a hunger crisis'.
