Wounded Ukrainian soldier trapped in a minefield is flown to safety by a converted BOMBER drone in a battlefield first

The infantryman, callsign 'Kostya', was hemmed in by mines and Russian kamikaze drones, so no ground vehicle could reach him. He strapped himself into a harness and radioed: 'That's it, we can take off.' The heavy hexacopter, built by Ukrainian firm Gurzuf Defence, lifted him clear on Monday. Ukraine's 92nd Assault Brigade says he is now stable and in rehabilitation.

The machine, a Heavy Shot Ayudag-6, can reportedly haul 90kg up to 25km.

Kostya was reportedly carried around 18km, guarded by a swarm of smaller drones.

Squad leader 'Napalm' hailed 'an historic event' for his unit.
