Ray Quinn, the X Factor 2006 runner-up, has disclosed that his son Rio was stillborn on 20 August after wife Emily gave birth at six months pregnant. The 38-year-old singer shared a black and white hospital photograph of himself and Emily holding their son, writing that Rio was their 'beautiful boy, born Sleeping'. Quinn said the cause of death was 'very very' rare, and the couple praised Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust and the Honeysuckle Bereavement Service for creating 'special memories' during 'the most heartbreaking week' of their lives.

Quinn and Emily, who married in 2023, are also parents to four-year-old daughter Summer Reign.

Kym Marsh, whose own son Archie died moments after birth in 2009, wrote: 'Oh Ray I'm so sorry. I know this pain only too well.'

The couple filmed a YouTube episode about the loss, saying it was 'not a decision we took lightly' but hoped to help others in similar situations.
