'You look like hell': Trump mocks Reuters reporter after being asked why he cancelled a Kansas rally
Reuters White House correspondent Jacob Bogage asked Trump on the tarmac at Joint Base Andrews whether cancelling the Kansas rally meant he was worn out from travel — and the president erupted, calling Bogage "sick", "disgusting" and "a dope" before telling him to "put yourself in shape." Trump was visibly sweating heavily throughout the confrontation, which he ended abruptly after an unusually brief press gaggle. The White House rapid response team then tagged Bogage on X to celebrate the dressing-down.
The cancelled Kansas rally had been due to boost Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who trails Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton in a state Trump carried by 16 points in 2024.
Trump said he scrapped the trip because Marshall "is doing very well" — yet he also cancelled a planned rally in Dubuque, Iowa, and switched to tele-rallies from Mar-a-Lago instead.
Hours before the confrontation, Bogage had posted an unflattering close-up photo of Trump on X as the president departed for South Carolina.
