'You've embarrassed me': Meghan banned designer Roland Mouret's clothes after his staff called Kate's stylist by mistake
French designer Roland Mouret claims Meghan declared she would never wear his clothes again after a staff member accidentally contacted Princess Kate's stylist at Kensington Palace to arrange the return of dresses lent to the Duchess. Meghan called Mouret furious, telling him the blunder had humiliated her in front of the Princess of Wales's office. The claims appear in his memoir 'I Am Roland Mouret: The Butcher's Boy Who Dressed the World', due out on 22 October.
Mouret says he had offered Meghan free clothes after she began dating Harry in 2016, telling his team to 'leave them as long as she wants them' and say nothing.
When she refused to return, Mouret spotted her wearing what he called 'a cheap high street copy' of one of his designs and texted her: 'Come back.'
Despite the reported row, Meghan has since worn Mouret's designs again, including in promotional photos for her brand 'As Ever' earlier this year.
