Zelensky's presidential decree, dated 2 November, cited Melania Trump's "significant personal contribution" to humanitarian support and her efforts to help Ukrainian children deported or forcibly moved from Russian-occupied territory. The Order of Princess Olga, 1st Class, is Ukraine's highest award for women. Nearly 800 civilians were evacuated during the six-day ceasefire — the longest local pause in fighting since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022.

Russian and Ukrainian delegations are due to meet at the White House on Thursday, at Melania Trump's invitation, to discuss next steps.

Ukraine's General Staff warned Russia used the ceasefire truce to rotate troops, boost defences and improve battlefield logistics.

US envoy Steve Witkoff has announced a further round of US-mediated Ukraine-Russia peace talks in Abu Dhabi on 10-11 November.
