Zelensky blasts 'terrible negligence' of his own officials as Russia's deadliest strike of the year kills 38 near Kyiv
Volodymyr Zelensky launched criminal proceedings against Ukrainian officials after Friday night's strike revealed ammunition had been illegally stored beside residential properties in Myla, killing 37 people.Russia's defence ministry boasted the overnight barrage was "massive," hitting ports, grain storage, energy sites and industrial infrastructure with ballistic missiles and 258 drones.Among the 37 people killed in the Myla strike were four children, with a further 42 people injured in the chain of explosions.Shells, mines and drones stored in the warehouse detonated, engulfing at least 50 residential buildings in fire — including a care home — and forcing 381 residents to evacuate.
Criminal proceedings have been launched against Ukrainian officials after a drone strike ignited a weapons depot in the village of Myla, in the Bucha district, killing 38 and wounding 42, including four children. Zelensky said the munitions depot "definitely shouldn't have been there" and condemned those who stored explosives next to homes. Close to 400 residents had to be evacuated and roughly 130 homes were damaged; a facility housing elderly and disabled residents in the area was also struck. Among the dead was Taras Didych, the mayor of Dmytrivska, who had rushed to the scene to help after the blast.
