Zelensky offers to halt strikes on Russian refineries if Moscow stops attacking Ukraine's energy grid

Volodymyr Zelensky has offered to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries on the condition that Russia ceases its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The offer comes after the US threatened to block arms supplies to Ukraine over the refinery strikes, and after Trump called for a new Ukrainian president.

Washington threatened to cut off arms to Kyiv if Ukraine continued targeting Russian oil refineries.

The US pressure followed Trump's public call for Zelensky to be replaced as Ukraine's leader.

Zelensky's conditional offer amounts to a proposed energy truce, but stops well short of a broader ceasefire.
