Zelensky says Ukraine and Russia could hold US-led peace talks in Abu Dhabi within days of the US midterms

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia-Ukraine peace talks could begin as early as November 10 — one week after Tuesday's US midterm elections — moved forward from an originally scheduled end-of-November date. Kyiv had proposed holding talks this Sunday but agreed to wait until after Americans vote, with a US team expected to lead the summit in Abu Dhabi in what would be the first face-to-face negotiations since Trump lifted sanctions on Moscow.
Zelensky warned Trump directly: 'If you understand Putin's goal is to occupy and destroy us, you can't be on Putin's side.'
The talks would begin only at a 'technical level', Zelensky clarified, but could pave the way for a full trilateral summit involving Trump, Zelensky and Putin.
Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff inflamed tensions by calling Putin 'Sir' and describing him as 'a humanitarian' during earlier St Petersburg talks.
